OBIT: Mobin died in a car crash

It is with a great sense of regret and a heavy heart I have to inform you that dear Imran Chowdhury (Mobin) died in a car crash early this morning near Chouddogram in Comilla.

Innal Illahay Wa Inna Ilaihay Rajeeon
Surely we have come from Allah and to him we shall all return

Mobin who was a free lance sound engineer was returning from the Djuice concert in Chittagong after attending to BLACK's sound requirements, was in a microbus with the band when the accident happened.

With whatever little details of the crash that I have received so far, it appears Mobin died on the spot, while Tony the drummer and Miraz, the BLACK Bassist were rushed in an ambulance and have been admitted with critically injuries at the Orthopedic (Pongu) Hospital here in Dhaka.

I last met Mobin on the night of the Onirbaan Concert, and we shared breakfast together in Moghbazar at about 5:30 on the morning of 17th April 2005. I dropped him off at his parent's home in Dhanmondi, little was I to know that this would be the last time I would see him.

His body is now in Comilla Medical College pending an autopsy (which is a legal requirement in accidental deaths), and funeral plans will be made available as and when I have them.

Please join us for a prayer to the departed soul of Mobin, and also wish the injured members of BLACK a speedy recovery.

I will be writing on Mobin later.

Regards

Mac

I’m not aware of any mp3 sources for the lectures.

Have you tried TotalRecorder? I believe it can record pretty much anything you want and output it as MP3.

I use a virtually unknown program called iTunes to merge MP3 files.

To join songs, try the old DOS command COPY, like this: copy /b song1.mp3 + song2.mp3 + song3.mpg mysongs.mp3. That should work great.

If not, can anyone recommend a good tool for turning RealAudio streams into mp3?

Wer Fuller selbst gerne einmal reden hören und sehen will, kann sich Aufnahmen seines legendären 42-stündigen Vortrags Everything I know streamen lassen (die Seite ist allerdings recht häufig nicht zu erreichen).

know garageband can do essentially what you're asking, maybe sound studio too. That old school classic app SoundApp was amazing and would probably work as well. I know it does work under classic.

Replace mp3-*-name.mp3 with the names of your songs (using Terminal, you can just drag and drop the file/names to Terminal and it'll add the name/path). The ">" is the output pipe, and the "joined-songs.mp3" would be the resulting name. You can ch...

The price goes to Restiffbard. The iTunes Applescript does the job exactly the way I wanted it. Thanks a lot for your suggestions though, they will undoubtedly come in handy at some later point in time.

Mac,

I am speachless !! I guess every one in our music industry have got memories with this sound magician. I know Mobin since his inception of his music carrier. He played bass with Pentagon so many times... such a cool buddy ! God damn it ... why him !!?? The Nature (!!) has done a big injustice to us. ...

Innal Illahay Wa Inna Ilaihay Rajeeon.... nabila called and informed me about the incident... from the last few month i am more or less close touch with bd music industry and who ever I met , every one has high praise on him. Probably the only one sound engineer (NOT TECNICIAN) in Bangladesh who knows what does sound mean…I called tanim bhai (daily star guy). He was PONGU HOSPITAL at that time and informed me that the bassist was badly injured and he just brought to operation theater …john and tahsan were quite ok and they have just left to take over the dead body of MOBIN Bhai.. Tony got some serious fracture with his hand.
